Miami Weather Guide (Overview of year-round Miami Weather)
Miami has beautiful sunny, warm, weather all year long due to its semi-tropical climate. It also has the warmest ocean temperature in America, making it an ideal place to hit the beach at any time of the year. There is a reason that we get so many tourists every year.
Although mostly constant, there are slight changes in weather conditions depending on the season. Here is an overview of the weather in Miami:
Summer
In the summer months, it is best to cool off by the poolside or the beach as temperatures often surpass 90 degrees F. The Miami summers are hot and humid. July is the hottest month in the city with an average temperature of 82 degrees F. Dressing comfortably in shorts and sandals are a must in the summer months.
You will also need an umbrella as it tends to rain often at random times throughout the day. Hurricane season also begins in the summer, so be on the lookout for any developing storms.
At this time, Miami residents prepare to protect their homes with impact windows and doors to prevent damage to their properties. This year, hurricane season started June 1st.
Fall
In Fall, Miami experiences cool, refreshing temperatures starting in late October or early November. At this time, temperatures begin to slowly drop. Average rainfall compared to the summer months tends to decrease as well. Hurricane season is well underway during the fall ending in late November. This year, hurricane season ends on November 30th.
Winter
Miami is lucky not to experience harsh winters like the states in the north. In fact, Miami has some of the warmest temperatures of all major American cities. The coldest month in Miami is January with an average temperature of 67 degrees F.
This is why it is not surprising to see “snowbirds” from the northern states come to our city to escape the snow and enjoy the beaches and pleasant weather.
Precipitation during the winter months is fairly low and the average temperature is in the mid-70s. You may need a sweater for some days but the Miami winter is nothing you cannot handle.
Spring
As spring approaches, the city starts to welcome the spring breakers arriving from all over the United States. During the spring time, Miami also experiences the sunniest months of the year.
This is perhaps the best season to visit the city. There are many outdoor festivals where people can enjoy the pleasant weather during this time including the Miami Carnival, better known as Festival de la Calle Ocho, and Ultra Music Festival.
